2003 Tour of Romandie
Just 72 hours after Liege, the biggest win of his career, American Tyler Hamilton claimed victory in the tough five-day Swiss Alpine climbs of the Tour of Romandie! It was a rare double win that put Hamilton in the history books with twin-winners Bernard Hinault (1980) and Ferdi Kubler (1951). It was no dream run for Hamilton, who later admitted he was suffering from tendonitis of the wrist, which made it difficult to pull up on the bars in the final kilometers of the race. He said he'd been almost scared of Fabian Jeker and the entire Maia team. The Portuguese team rode flat out, but faltered on the last stage, a 20 K uphill and downhill time trial. The Man from Marblehead, MA burned through the competitors to crush Francisco Perez (Milaneza) by one minute and 20 seconds! "To win both is incredible," Hamilton said. "It's beyond words." Don't miss the race that puts an American into cycling's annals of double wins! Approximately 120 minutes. Narrated by Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen.
2003 Tour of Switzerland In 2003, Alexandre Vinokourov dominated early season racing. Preparing for the Tour, he cranked up the power in the Swiss Alps to win the fourth-hardest stage race in the world. Approximately 120 minutes. Narrated by Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen.
